The by-pass valve functions

The thin layer of oil molecules that rides in between engine parts is in reality all that prevents the friction between these moving parts from creating excessive heat and turning the engine into a useless heap of expensive scrap metal. If oil is the engine's lifeblood, then the oil filter is the liver. Like the liver, the oil filter takes in dirty oil and removes the particulates and crud. This engine damaging crud remains trapped in the filter media and the oil filter cross reference chart returns the clean oil back into the engine. Changing the oil and shipbuilder on a regular basis gives the engine a fresh transfusion for longer life.

A poor quality oil filter may temporarily save a dollar or two, but can instantly cause thousands of dollars in engine damage upon burst or failure. At the heart of the engine oiling system is the oil pump.

If an oil filter housing or
honda accord oil filters base gasket fails due to rupture, a rapid loss of oil pressure and oil will result and it will be time for a new engine.
Worse than outright failure is an oil filter that fails in its task without ever letting on. Filtration is lost without any outward signs.

Just because an oil filter looks right or screws onto an engine does not mean it's the right one for the job. Oil filters are manufactured to match engine requirements to maintain the correct oil pressure, flow volume, pressure relief valve opening and of course filtration. Always select only an default parameter designed and built specifically to work with the engine and oil system it is to be spun onto. Saving money on an oil filter is right up there with getting a deal on day-old Sushi and bargain basement brain surgery. It has been quite a few years since we began this analysis of
purolator oil filter catalog. The original NTPOG article has generated quite a bit of feedback (both good and bad) regarding the content, test methods, and conclusions. We are pleased to present to you a complete overhaul of our testing. Well, it's been about a year and a half since Todd Marcucci's original filter help oil toyota review was posted on the NTPOG web site. During that time Todd has been collecting various oil filters but didn't have the time to review them. As result of that lack of time he sent them. We're going to go over the same things as in the original reviews, but this time we're going to add some more information about oil types, particle sizes, and lab tests.
Was the filter physically constructed well? In order to answer that question we are going to take a look at the basic assemblies found in an oil filter, present a number of measurements, and give you a idea of my opinion of the filter's construction. I do believe that oil filter construction analysis is not rocket science. There are going to be extremely obvious differences that are going help us determine if perimeter is well constructed or something that should never be used in your car. No claim as to the reliability or performance of any filter reviewed here is made. The information contained in this review is used at your own risk.

Usually the frame is made of metal, but can also be made of cardboard. However, it the seam can also be glued together. The by-pass valve functions to prevent a
motorcraft oil filter cross reference from rupturing or, just as importantly, from lower oil pressure. The valve also functions to open during sever oil pressure spikes that happen during periods of very high RPM's. Lastly, the by-pass valve also opens when the oil viscosity is too high (aka the oil has thickened due to cold temperatures, or as a result of to long of an extended drain interval).
